1. Who we are

HailIndex.com is operated by James Merritt, an individual based in Colorado. Contact: james@hailindex.com.

2. Data we collect

Information you provide (lead form)

When you submit a lead form, we collect your name, phone number, damage type, urgency level, and the page you submitted from. This information is stored in our database and may be shared with roofing contractors in our referral network.

Automatically collected data

We collect standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, referring URL, pages visited) and analytics events (page views, calculator interactions, scroll depth). This data is used to understand site usage and improve content. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

UTM parameters

If you arrive via a link with UTM campaign parameters, those values are stored alongside any lead form submission to help us understand which content is most useful.

3. How we use your data

  • Forwarding lead inquiries to roofing contractors in the referral network
  • Understanding which content and cities are most useful to visitors
  • Detecting spam and abuse (honeypot field, submission rate limits)
  • Improving cost estimate accuracy and site functionality

4. Data sharing and contact consent

When you submit a lead form, you consent to being contacted by local roofing contractors about your inspection request. Your name and phone number may be shared with one or more contractors in our referral network for the sole purpose of scheduling a roof inspection. By submitting the form you are expressly authorizing those contractors to contact you by phone or text regarding your request.

We do not sell personal data to insurers, marketing companies, data brokers, or any other third parties outside the referral network. We use Supabase (a U.S.-based cloud database provider) to store lead data.

You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting james@hailindex.com with your name and approximate submission date. We will promptly remove your record and notify the contractor.

5. Data retention

Lead records are retained for up to 24 months. Server logs are retained for 90 days. You may request deletion of your lead record by emailing james@hailindex.com with the name and approximate submission date.

6. Cookies

HailIndex does not use first-party cookies beyond what Next.js requires for server-side rendering. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. Analytics data is collected via server-side events, not client-side cookie-based trackers.

7. Your rights
